Train to Tibet

Train tickets to Tibet are available for purchase at various railway stations. However, as an overseas tourist, it’s essential to present your Tibet Entry Permit. Without the permit, train station staff are not allowed to issue tickets. To simplify the process, it’s advisable to secure tickets through a reliable agent.

Arrival at the train station for check-in, both your original passport and Tibet Entry Permit are required to be presented. Boarding the train without a valid travel permit is not permitted. As a local agency, we can assist you in obtaining tickets even if you don’t have a Tibet permit.

Soft sleeper and hard sleeper are the two kinds of sleeper cabins available on the train. Each hard sleeper cabin accommodates 6 passengers with 2 upper, 2 middle, and 2 bottom berths. In contrast, soft sleeper 4 people with 2 upper and 2 bottom berths. The berths in soft sleeper cabins are slightly softer and wider compared to hard ones. Additionally, soft sleeper cabins have doors, while hard sleeper cabins do not.

Typically, we arrange soft sleeper accommodations to ensure you have a comfortable and restful journey on the train. It’s important to book tickets with us 60 days prior to departure, but no later than 30 days.
