Travel from Lhasa to Mountain Everest Base Camp is a quite popular tour route. Cyclists also always want to try this adventure. As a very tough journey, you’d better get acclimatized to the high altitude in Lhasa to avoid Acute Mountain Sickness. Try to visit some famous scenic spots first, like Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery, and other attractions.
After the well-adapted days in Lhasa, we’ll start to ride the bike to Yamdrok Tso Lake via Kambala Pass. For the whole cycling tour, we ride along the Friendship Highway G318 most of the time. Same as the regular tour, you’ll also visit classic sightseeing places such as Karola Glacier in Nagarze, Dzong Castle & Kumbum Stupa in Gyantse, and Tashilhunpo Monastery in Shigatse.
Passing through the high pass Gyatso la, you’ll have the first glance of the highest mountain Everest dominated by the Himalayan Mountain Range. From now on, our riding will become tougher and tougher, but your effort will be rewarded with world-class breathtaking view of peaks at the pass Gyawu la, Makalu (8,463m), Shishapangma (8,012m), Cho Oyu (8,210m), Lhotse (8,516m), Qomolangma (8,848m)from left to right presented in sight.
When you arrive in Tashi Dzong Village, it is very close to Rongbuk and Everest Base Camp. Just 4 hours’ riding distance, you’ll finally reach the third pole in the world – Mt. Everest Base Camp.
After spending a whole day and a whole night at EBC, you’ll be picked up by our vehicle. Let’s drive back to Lhasa to have a good rest and enjoy your free time in Lhasa.
