Z6811 is the newly opened direct train line from Xining to Shigatse. Taking this train, we’ll arrive in Shigatse from Xining directly. Before going to Tibet, we can visit Qinghai Lake first in Xining. The Bird Island on Qinghai Lake is the Paradise for Migrant Birds. For a bird-watching tour, you are suggested to come to travel in May, but if you want to see the vast golden rape flower fields, should be around mid-July.
Touring around Lhasa, the heart of Tibetan spirituality, you’ll visit Potala Palace, an architectural marvel that once served as the Dalai Lama’s winter residence. Try to find the hidden hall and hidden stories. Walk on Barkhor Street – the best-preserved old town of Lhasa to meet the local Tibetan families in the back lanes and side streets.
