Tsurphu Monastery is 70 kilometers away from Lhasa city. This trekking line from Tsurphu to Yangpachen is a captivating journey through the rugged terrain of the Tibetan Plateau. It typically takes around 4 to 5 days to complete, covering approximately 70 kilometers of trekking distance.
The challenge of crossing high passes, such as Damchen La Pass at 5,200m and Lasar La Pass at 5,300m, adds an adventurous element to the trek. The trail gradually descends to Yangpachen, known for its hot springs and stunning landscapes, providing a rewarding end to this remarkable journey.
Along the trek, you’ll encounter several points of interest:
Nomadic Camps: You’ll have the opportunity to visit and interact with Tibetan nomadic families along the way, gaining insights into their way of life, including how they herd yaks and sheep on the vast plateau.
Yangpachen Hot Springs: The trek ends in the Yangpachen area, known for its geothermal hot springs. You can relax and soak in these hot springs, which are believed to have healing properties.
It offers breathtaking vistas of snow-capped mountains, serene valleys, and vast expanses of high-altitude grasslands. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to visit remote monasteries, interact with local nomads, and immerse yourself in the unique culture of the region.
