Namtso hiking is suggested to do in summer from June to August only. In that season, you can find nomads and their herds of sheep and yaks when Changtang Grassland is flourishing.

We start hiking from Damxung Valley which is about 200km out of Lhasa city, going through a rocky defile, then a high-altitude forest and a number of streams aside. Crossing the meadows, fantastic views of the sparkling holy lake Namtso, yaks, and sheep dotted the grassland leap into the eyes from many different vantage points on the trail. The trail winds through nomadic villages, offering glimpses into the pastoral life of the Tibetan plateau.

After exploring Namtso Lake, we drive about 2hrs on the Qinghai-Tibet Highway to reach Yangpachen 100km north of Lhasa. It's a geothermal field rich in terrestrial heat and densely distributed with various fountains, geysers, and hot springs. We can have a bath in the hot spring.

The mesmerizing turquoise expanse of Namtso Lake is nestled against a backdrop of towering Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains, a realm of untamed beauty. You could even set up camp by the lakeshore and witness the enchanting play of light and water.
