You can always trust in the autumn of Daocheng Yading, a fairy tale come to life! In this lifetime, one must visit Daocheng Yading, known as “the last pure land on the blue planet,” to witness the soul-purifying scenery.

While Yading is beautiful year-round, it’s particularly stunning in autumn. The interplay of red and yellow leaves with high-altitude meadows, rivers, and glaciers embodies all fantasies of nature and beauty. It truly is a paradise on earth.

The Garze (Ganzi)-Pelyul (Baiyu) route is becoming increasingly popular. This journey takes you through snow-capped mountains, lakes, meadows, and temples. Yarchen Gar, known as the home of ascetics, at an elevation of 3900 meters, is home to over 20,000 nuns, the largest congregation in the world, and also some monks. The nunnery is as impressive as the Larung Gar Buddhist Academy!

Here’s what you need to know before going:
🛌 Daocheng Yading is at a high altitude in the Tibetan region, and altitude sickness can vary greatly from person to person. It’s best to ensure good rest before going and consider taking medicine to alleviate altitude sickness.
🧦 Be aware of the large temperature differences between day and night. Check the weather forecast, and start your journey on a sunny day. Dress warmly and prepare for wind and rain to avoid catching a cold. Wear comfortable shoes suitable for trekking!
😎 Don’t forget sun protection: sunglasses, a hat, trekking poles, etc., are recommended. Prepare food, hot water, and other energy-boosting supplies! In high-altitude areas, avoid strenuous exercise, and consume plenty of water and fruit.

Important Notice:
🦅 When visiting the sky burial site in Seda (Sertar), it is crucial to arrive at least one hour early for the ceremony, which occurs between 1 PM and 4 PM.

👉 The site can be found opposite the lookout tower on the hillside; just follow the prayer flags down. Although the site is quite distant, you can identify it by the green fence. Walk a good distance to the left until you reach a small path with a gate in the fence that allows entrance.

💼 At the turnoff to Yarchen Gar from the main Ganzi road, there is a security checkpoint where everyone must disembark for identity verification. Remember to bring your ID card, passport & visa, travel permit, etc.

💁‍♀️ Yarchen Gar comprises multiple temples, with Yarchen Gar itself being a nunnery. The region is split into two by a river, with the nuns’ area surrounded by water, forming an island where no men are allowed. Only the Yarchen Gar temple permits male visitors.
